qld: Qantas caterers to return to job today

Staff at the Qantas Flight catering centre in Brisbane are expected back on the job
before midday today.

Some 400 union members walked off the job over a pay dispute yesterday at 11am AEST for 24 hours.

Qantas says flight schedules have not been affected.

Transport Workers' Union national president HUGHIE WILLIAMS says the dispute began
when Qantas Flight Catering took over Cater Air.

He says as a consequence, workers will have their wages cut.

Mr WILLIAMS says it's also possible some long term employees may lose up to $8000 a year.
