NSW: Toongabbie house fire may have been deliberately lit

Police say a house fire which caused $20,000 damage in Sydney's west last night may have
been deliberately lit.

A police spokeswoman says the owner of the rented house in Toongabbie was visiting next
door neighbours when alerted by the sound of breaking glass at about 9.30pm (AEST).

The spokeswoman says the group tried to extinguish the blaze with a garden hose before
calling the fire brigade.

Fire investigators and scientific police found a side door had been forced open and signs
of accelerant were found in the lounge room.
